Explorer
Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old.
They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family.
|
|
There
are many types of Explorer Scout Units, some are linked to local
Scout Groups, others are based around different activities. Not all
Units meet each week, because explorers will often be out and about at
weekends or in the holidays doing activities. There will be times when
young people will be busy doing other things such as exams, and being an
Explorer Scout will have to fit around these. Explorers can go to any or
all of the meetings in the District.

Young Leaders are
Explorer Scouts who choose to do some or all of their Explorer Scouting
by helping on of the younger sections as part of the sectional
leadership team. There is training available to help them be more
effective in this role. Wherever Young Leaders work, the adults they
work with are always full of praise for the support they give, Indeed,
there is at least one section in the District that would have closed if
it wasn't for the support of Explorer Scouts working as Young Leaders.
